The movement Ne Davimo Beograd presented Dobrica Veselinović, the candidate for mayor of Belgrade, and a team of people who will, on behalf of the movement, be part of the green-left coalition MORAMO lists in the elections, in a packed hall of the Youth Centre.

The Ne Davimo Beograd movement and the MORAMO coalition call on all citizens of the Republic of Serbia living abroad to vote at the upcoming elections on April 3. In order to facilitate the exercise of the right to vote guaranteed by the Constitution, we have launched a campaign and a website: www.idijasporaglasa.rs 

Rising concerns over environmental problems brought green political organizations to the foreground. Green political parties have been present in Serbia before, but their role has not been entirely positive.

The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) continues to form fake green organisations whose name should confuse the public and the media, as well as manipulate voters in the upcoming elections and thus reduce the election result of the MORAMO coalition. The Serbian Business Registers Agency (APR) recently registered the "Green-Left Coalition Movement", the "Association of Environmental Organisations of the Greens of Serbia", the "Green Action Movement" and the "Green Revolution Movement".

The Movement Ne Davimo Beograd (Don’t Let Belgrade Drown) has formed, together with Otvorena građanska platforma (Open Civic Platform) AKCIJA and Ekološki ustanak (Environmental Uprising), the green-left coalition MORAMO (WE MUST), which will run in the upcoming city and republic elections. In addition to these three organisations, MORAMO coalition consists of a large number of other individuals, activists and movements.

Citizens of Belgrade and other major cities said NO to the regime of the Serbian Progressive Party in a referendum and rejected harmful changes to the Constitution.

At the meeting of environmental associations, movements and organisations from all over Serbia, an agreement was reached on joint action and taking the next steps in the fight against Rio Tinto and other harmful projects for the environment and the health of our citizens.

The proposed Law on Referenda and People's Initiative was entered into parliamentary procedure without adequate public debate, and the government intends to propose changes to the Constitution immediately after its adoption. This way of changing the Constitution could help Aleksandar Vučić increase the number of times he could serve as President of Serbia in the near future, but also paves the way for manipulations with harmful projects such as Rio Tinto. In addition, the expert public warns that referenda on such solutions will make abuse of power easier on various fronts.

Representatives of the the Don’t Let Belgrade Drown Movement and the political platform Solidarity requested that the Ministries of Labor and Interior and the Prosecutor's Office immediately investigate the treatment of workers and indications of human trafficking at the Linglong factory in Zrenjanin reported by media outlets and civil society organizations.

This event is also a meeting of the first "Green Balkan Network", where representatives of the Don’t Let Belgrade Drown Movement will have the opportunity to share their experience and discuss improving cooperation with relevant representatives of green policies from our region and Europe.
