The Ne davimo Beograd (Don’t Let Belgrade (D)rown) Movement has once again come under fire from regime tabloids for insisting on publishing accurate and timely information about the fire at the Vinča landfill. As incredible as it sounds, the Serbian Telegraph, Informer, Alo and TV Pink all published the news that the fire in Vinča was most likely an act of arson, and that the arsonists were none other than…Ne davimo Beograd and European Green Party MEP, Viola von Kramon, who is on a two-day visit to Belgrade!
This is one of the best illustrations of what the atmosphere of lies created by the regime media in Serbia looks like. The Ne davimo Beograd Movement has been warning for years about the danger caused by the inadequately secured and managed landfill in Vinča, as it reported to the citizens and fought against the catastrophic project of building an incinerator. It is obvious that they are trying to divert attention from their responsibility with such brutal lies, and the fact that they are dealing in such unscrupulous fabrications tells us that they are afraid of the support that the movement enjoys among the citizens of Belgrade and Serbia, as well as international support.
The legal team of the Ne davimo Beograd will initiate appropriate legal proceedings against the media that knowingly published this allegation.
The Ne davimo Beograd Movement has been under attack for years by the regime of the Serbian Progressive Party and their satellites of extreme right-wingers. For years, we have been the target of regime tabloids, unjustified lawsuits, wiretapping and surveillance, attempting to sabotage the work of the movement, and there have been three break-in attempts on our premises by unknown perpetrators.
